From September 28th to 2nd of October, İstanbul will again attract design fans from all over the world, hosting it’s one and only İstanbul Industrial Design Week, organized in partnership with İstanbul Metropolitan
Municipality, Hürriyet and dDf. The event will bring together designers, leading design firms and manufacturers from many disciplines, universities, institutions, media, non- governmental organizations and global design Networks in the Old Galata Bridge.

A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY FOR YOUNG DESIGNERS IN TURKEY! Istanbul Design Week 2011 and in collaboration with Gaia&Gino and W Istanbul, announce the “Young Designers Competition 2011″
The W Istanbul, Istanbul Design Week, and Gaia&Gino are proud to announce the Young Designers Competition 2011! This competition offers a unique opportunity for Fine Arts students studying industrial design students and architecture students. This is the second year that the W Istanbul and Istanbul Design Week have held this competition in Turkey.
Students are able to choose to design one of the following products for the design guestrooms: room service tray, toothbrush holder & soap dish, jewelry container, or coasters. The jury is international and extremely diverse; Arhan Kayar, Aziz Sarıyer, Mahmut Anlar, Luke Pearson, Alexis Georgacopoulos and Gaye Çevikel, Luke Pearson, Alexis Georgacopoulos and James Gancos.
As of June 1 to 20th June, students may upload their designs to the web portal www.istanbulyoungdesigners2011.com The prizes are 3,000 Turkish Lira for first place, 2,000 Turkish Lira for second and 1,000 Turkish Lira for third. The top ten designs will be created by industry sponsors and exhibited at Istanbul Design Week 2011. These designs will then be up on the W Istanbul website.
