As the opposition to the rejection of the international sound mark lodged by Siemens AG has been accepted by The Higher Council of Examination and Evaluation, the first sound mark in Turkey has been qualified to be published in the Trademark Bulletin dated November 12, 2007 as declared in the
web site of the Turkish Patent Institute (turkpatent.gov.tr). This trademark being the first sound mark in Turkey consists of the picture/representation of the musical notes which form the melody. The electronic sound record specimen has been published in the Turkish Patent Institute website and may be reached at the address http://www.tpe.gov.tr/portal/default2.jsp?sayfa=200 .
It has been stated that only the sound marks represented by musical notes will be accepted to registration. The documents required to be submitted for the filing of a sound mark are as the following:
1) Specification
2) Sound recording in MP3 format
3) Trademark specimen consisting of musical notes in JPEG format
